Paul and the Terrible, No Good, Very Bad Day

Well in case you were thinking that life has been all fun here in Austin, it hasn't.  Well not for Paul especially in the hours of 2 pm Sunday to 3pm Monday.

First this happened....

Paul dropped his phone on the way home from watching the Patriot's game on Sunday.  Smack on the sidewalk.  It was terrible.  He is still using it and every time he does I think of this commercial:

It's funny because Paul has T Mobile.

Then Monday morning we went to go get his car in our very tight parking garage and low and behold his car had been towed to a garage 12 miles away on Saturday night.  Here he is picking up his car.

It was a really sketchy trailer and when he went to get his registration to release his car he tried to drive it and the lady freaked out that he was going to take it without paying.

Things are looking up though, we are making progress on our apartment/house search, the leasing company is paying for the car towing, I start my job in an hour, Paul's loaner laptop came in so he doesn't have to hook his laptop to the TV due to the broken screen (oh I forgot to mention he dropped his laptop his 3rd day here), and Brooke is trying to put up with us.

Please play with me.

Happy Hump Day everyone!

What Brooke's Been Up To

I have been trying to get back into my running routine so Brooke and I have been checking out new routes. She isn't a fan of running in the heat so on my off days we explore and after running days she gets to go to the off leash section of the trail where she can run and swim with her new pup pals.

Here she is deciding where to run next and then looking at her new city.
She is loving the freedom and doing a great job making friends. Today she met a boxer who could swim. I know amazing and I am hoping Brooke will follow her in one day, but for now she is just enjoying splashing, drinking, and sniffing with the others.

From Austin

Well hello there.  Sorry it has been so long since my post.

I was pretending I was on vacation over the past week.  We made it to Austin last Sunday and have been having a blast exploring our awesome downtown neighborhood and laying by the pool between a little work and interviewing.

Here are some pics from the road

The rest of our road trip was fun.  We stopped in Nashville, which was amazing and I can't wait to go back.  They Ryman was amazing and I really wanted to go to the Bluebird CafĂ© like a true Nashville the show fan, but we were lucky enough to get into free pop up Keith Urban concert with just 200 other fans.  It is hard to see him in that picture so here is a video to prove it.

It was so cool.  I wish I had filmed for longer.  The next day we went to Monell's for breakfast.  Let me just say if you are ever in Nashville you need to eat here.  Heck I would book a trip just to eat a meal here.  For Diner, Drive Ins, and Dive fans, it is even better than Guy can describe.

We also stopped in Memphis for the night and hung out on Beale Street for while.  Then it was time for our longest leg.  We survived and often Brooke would try to get closer to us by sticking her head on the armrest.  She did awesome in the car, but was a little leery of elevators in hotels.

Our current apartment is great and in a phenomenal location.  We are having a great time exploring.  Our current favorite past times include:

Late night trips to the taco truck (YUM), afternoons at the pool, Brooke sleeping at the foot of the bed (its her favorite place to be whether or not we are there), and walks along the foot bridge to Lady Bird Lake.

More to come from Austin now that I have taken myself off of vacation status.

XO
Jill

6 States in 1 day!

WE MADE IT TO ROANOKE, VIRGINIA!!

Sorry to yell, but we have survived the first leg of our trip. We traveled through 6 states today! To tell you the truth 9.5 hours in the car wasn't that bad, but I may feel differently come Sunday.  It could be a woman asked me if I had the day off from school. When I looked at her funny she said you're in college right.  I was like well thank you, but no.  She made my day.  Here is a pic of Brookers sleeping in the back of the car.  She only looks mad because the flash woke her up.

P.S. I have lots of bucket list items to fill you in on, but need to upload all the pictures.  The past couple weeks have just been crazy.

P.P.S.  We have one beautiful country.  I tried my best to not be a sleepy head like Brooke and enjoy the scenery.

Week in Review

This past week was wonderful.  It felt like my first week of summer, since ESY was over, and I made the best of it.

Here is a quick recap...

(I'm still working on the picture taking thing)

On Monday, Jocelyn and I went to lunch then dropped my computer off at school and collected my belongings that were still there.  We were a little a lot sad, so we went to Zorvino's for a quick wine tasting.  We had a great time sampling there different wines and I picked some up to bring to my Texas friends.

Tuesday I ran some errands and organized around the house.  Wednesday, was a great day to scratch off some bucket list items.  I headed to the beach and then this happened.

Thursday, I packed a lunch and enjoyed a picnic outside before heading into work.  I was only going to stay to eat, but ended up there for quite a while reading my book.  It was wonderful way to spend an afternoon.

Paul was telling me my lunchtime snapchats were becoming cruel. So I didn't show him how I spent my Friday morning.  Can you guess?

That's right a beautiful morning at the beach.  Followed by a wonderful night out with friends.  Thanks to everyone who made it.  We had a blast and it was so nice of you to come from near and far to spend some time with us.  We are sad to be leaving some amazing friends (top photo) and coworkers (bottom photo). You better come visit!

I swear Paul and other boys were there, but once again, I am slacking in the photo department.  Thanks to Liz and Jocelyn for capturing these moments.  Saturday we had a great time at a family birthday party followed by a cookout with more friends.

I hope you all had a great week too!

Weekend Update

Hi Y'All,

I am practicing that :)

I have been computer-less for about a week, so sorry for the lack of posts.  Last weekend we had a fabulous time in CT.  We got to hang with my 93 year-old grandma and her sister and lots of family and friends.  We also got some relaxing in at the lake.  Thanks to everyone who came to see us.

I am ashamed to admit this, but we never ate the top tier of our wedding cake on our anniversary.  Good thing I wasn't a "blogger" then.  We just never remembered to bring it back with us and didn't visit CT around that time of our anniversary so there it sat in my parents freezer for almost 13 months.  I think my Dad was ready to start charging us rent. We used this visit home to finally eat our cake in the presence of our friends.  This may be the few glasses of wine talking, but it was pretty delicious.  Still moist and fluffy.

Reenacting the big day

The next day I was able to check something off my Moving Bucket List (more on that in another post), and ran around entire lake.  Our cottage is on a lake that is 7 miles around and my friends and I would always run attempt to run around it during the summer when we were younger.  We would make it a mile then decide to visit people we knew who would usually give us cookies and then we would either keep going the rest of the way around mostly walking or turn around and walk the mile back. Either plan ended with eating 3D Doritos in my boat.  We always felt like we earned them because of our run.

Since I started running longer distances it has been a goal of mine to tackle the lake.  It is very hilly, but was a fun little run with awesome scenery.

We spent the rest of the day relaxing by the water and it was just glorious.

Bye for now.

Currently I Am....

In the car on the way to Connecticut to visit my family and some great friends.

Can't wait to see these crazy girls.

We were listening to Pandora's Spice Girl Station, but that just got nixed. So I decided to try posting from my from my phone.

I am using this car ride to prep for 4 days in the car and trying any and all car games I can think of. Suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Yesterday, I cleaned and organized for 6 hours so I treated my self to this deliciousness.

I love froyo! Especially tart and coconut with gummy things on top.

Signing off from the road.

Here we go...

map courtesy of google maps
Hi Ya'll,
So as many of you know Paul, Brooke and I are moving to Austin the beginning of September.  In order to keep our friends and family close, I have started a blog to chronicle our adventures.
Get ready for lots of fun as we pack, say our goodbyes and drive 2000 miles with our crazy boxer to the great state of Texas.
I promise to start taking more pictures. I am also going to try to become funnier. I am sure both these things will be a work in progress.
So stay tuned as these newlyweds venture 2000 miles from were we grew up onto new adventures.
XO,
Jill
